136.1(A)(1) PC Witness Intimidation
148(a)(1) PC Obstruct, Resist or Delay a Peace Officer
Victim: 38 year old Female
Suspects: Jose Gonzalez 38 year old Napa Resident
On 11/23/16 at approximately 6:40 PM, Jose Gonzalez was contacted by officers of the Napa Police Department Patrol Division, Investigations Division and Special Enforcement Unit in front of 3331 Solano Ave. Officers of the Napa Police Department have been actively looking for Jose in attempt to arrest him for felony stalking, witness intimidation and criminal threats.
The victim contacted the Napa Police Department on 11/22/16 and reported she had ended a relationship with Jose in October of 2016. Jose continued to harass and threaten the victim for weeks. The victim obtained a domestic violence restraining order against Jose from the Napa Superior Court which had not been served on him after several attempts. The victim also requested Jose be served with the restraining order by the Napa Police Department. Jose made statements to the victim that he would kill law enforcement officers if she called the Police to report the ongoing stalking situation. Several Napa Police department Police Officers have had recent contact with Jose and know him to be uncooperative with law enforcement.
When officers gave Jose commands to stop and comply, he ran away from officers and into the Round Table Pizza. Jose attempted to barricade himself in the restaurant and began to reach into his clothing. An officer deployed several less lethal device rounds (bean bag rounds) through the front glass door. Jose fell to the ground and was placed under arrest. He was later booked into NCDC after receiving medical treatment.
A bean bag round is a small fabric pillow that is filled with a weighted material. It is deployed from a 12-gauge shotgun and expelled about 250 to 300 feet per second. It spreads out in flight and distributes its impact on the target. The bean bag round is designed to deliver a blow that will cause minimum long-term trauma to the body. It will result in a muscle spasm to stop a potentially violent or violent suspect.
No patrons inside of the restaurant or in the vicinity were physically harmed.
