The Crisis Response Unit is comprised of three specialized teams: The Negotiation Team, the Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT), and the Tactical Dispatch Team. The unit has been establish to provide specialized support in handling critical field operations wherein intense negotiations and/or special tactical deployment methods, beyond the capacity of field officers, appear to be necessary to reduce the risk of injury or loss of life.
Crisis Negotiation Team
The Crisis Negotiation Team has been established to provide skilled verbal communicators to deescalate those in crisis and to effect surrender in critical situations where suspects have taken hostages, barricaded themselves, or have suicidal tendencies.
Special Weapons And Tactics Team

suspects, snipers, terrorist acts and other high-risk incidents. As a matter of department policy, such a unit may also be used to serve high-risk warrants, both search and arrest, where public and officer safety issues warrant the use of such a unit.
Tactical Dispatch Team
The Tactical Dispatch Team has been established to provide skilled tactical dispatching and documentation in critical situations where suspects have taken hostages, barricaded themselves or have suicidal tendencies.
